Topological triple phase transition in non-Hermitian Floquet quasicrystals

Sebastian Weidemann et al.

Summary: Phase transitions in non-Hermitian quasicrystals can be mutually interlinked, and the intertwinement of symmetry breaking, topology, and mobility phase transitions is observed in this study using photonic quantum walks.

Observation of the Quantum Boomerang Effect

Roshan Sajjad et al.

Summary: This article reports the experimental observation of the quantum boomerang effect and elucidates the crucial role of initial-state symmetries in this effect. The results highlight the importance of Anderson localization and provide a unique experimental probe of the underlying quantum nature of localized matter.

Quantum boomerang effect in systems without time-reversal symmetry

Jakub Janarek et al.

Summary: In an Anderson localized system, a quantum particle with a nonzero initial velocity returns, on average, to its origin, known as the quantum boomerang effect. It was previously believed that time-reversal invariance is a necessary condition for this phenomenon, but our theoretical analysis in a one-dimensional system with spin-orbit coupling reveals that time-reversal invariance is not necessary for the occurrence of the boomerang effect.

Nonunitary Scaling Theory of Non-Hermitian Localization

Kohei Kawabata et al.

Summary: The authors developed a scaling theory of localization in non-Hermitian systems, revealing that non-Hermiticity introduces a new scale and breaks down the conventional one-parameter scaling theory of localization. The unconventional non-Hermitian delocalization is identified as originating from the two-parameter scaling. Furthermore, based on reciprocity, the authors established the threefold universality of non-Hermitian localization, where reciprocity prohibits delocalization without internal degrees of freedom, and symplectic reciprocity results in a new type of symmetry-protected delocalization.

Interplay and competition between disorder and flat band in an interacting Creutz ladder

Takahiro Orito et al.

Summary: In the Creutz ladder, the interplay and competition between disorder and flat band have significant effects on the system, introducing disorder induces a thermal phase and further increases can lead the system to the conventional many-body-localized phase. This competition provides novel localization properties and unconventional quench dynamics to the system.

Quantum boomerang effect: Beyond the standard Anderson model

L. Tessieri et al.

Summary: Research shows that the quantum boomerang effect is robust in various types of disordered and dynamical systems, such as models with pseudorandom potentials and the kicked rotor. However, random hopping processes can inhibit the boomerang effect by preventing any drift motion of the wavepacket.

Anderson localization transition in a robust PT-symmetric phase of a generalized Aubry-Andre model

Sebastian Schiffer et al.

Summary: We studied a generalized Aubry-Andre model that follows PT symmetry, and found a robust PT-symmetric phase that can support an Anderson localization transition. The model provides a perfect platform for studying disorder-driven localization phenomena in a PT-symmetric system.
