Measurement properties and responsiveness of the EQ-5D-Y-5L compared to the EQ-5D-Y-3L in children and adolescents receiving acute orthopaedic care

Janine Verstraete et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the instrument performance and responsiveness of the EQ-5D-Y-3L and the expanded English version of the EQ-5D-Y-5L in children and adolescents receiving acute orthopaedic management in South Africa. The results showed that the EQ-5D-Y-5L performed better, reducing the ceiling effect and demonstrating greater discriminatory power.

N. Devlin et al.

Summary: This article reviews the experience of using the EQ-5D-Y valuation protocol, highlighting early learnings and areas where further research is needed. Priority research areas include testing alternative methods for anchoring DCE data, exploring adolescents' preferences, and examining the scale differences between EQ-5D-Y and adult EQ-5D states and their implications for HTA.

Comparing Measurement Properties of the English EQ-5D-Y 3-Level Version With the 5-Level Version in South Africa

Janine Verstraete et al.

Summary: This study compared the performance of the EQ-5D-Y 3-level version (Y-3L) and the expanded 5-level version, the EQ-5D-Y 5-level version (Y-5L), in different conditions. The results showed that the Y-5L improved ceiling effect, informativity of dimensions, consistency of responses, and convergent validity compared to the Y-3L. The test-retest reliability of the Y-5L was similar to the Y-3L. Therefore, the Y-5L can be considered as a valid and reliable extension of the Y-3L.

Comparison of the EQ-5D-Y-5L, EQ-5D-Y-3L and PedsQL in children and adolescents

Janine Verstraete et al.

Summary: This study compared the feasibility, concurrent validity and known-group validity of EQ-5D-Y-3L (Y-3L), EQ-5D-Y-5L (Y-5L) and PedsQL self-report PROMs. The results showed that Y-3L and Y-5L had comparable psychometric validity to PedsQL. The choice of measurement tools should be guided by the characteristics of the population to be tested.

Comparing measurement properties of EQ-5D-Y-3L and EQ-5D-Y-5L in paediatric patients

Titi Sahidah Fitriana et al.

Summary: This study compared the measurement properties and responsiveness of EQ-5D-Y-3L and EQ-5D-Y-5L in pediatric patients. The results showed that the feasibility, convergent validity, and disease-specific measures were similar between the two versions, but EQ-5D-Y-5L had better test-retest reliability and sensitivity for detecting health changes.

Valuation Survey of EQ-5D-Y Based on the International Common Protocol: Development of a Value Set in Japan

Takeru Shiroiwa et al.

Summary: This study developed the first EQ-5D-Y value set for converting responses to index values. Respondents valued children's health states using composite time tradeoff and a discrete choice experiment. Mental function domains were found to have higher value in assessing children's health status, and a value set for EQ-5D-Y was successfully constructed by converting latent DCE values to a utility scale.
