Pseudocapacitive Conjugated Polyelectrolyte/2D Electrolyte Hydrogels with Enhanced Physico-Electrochemical Properties

Glenn Quek et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the use of 2D electrolytes as additives to enhance the pseudocapacitive performance of conducting polymer hydrogels (CPHs). The results show that the addition of 2D electrolytes improves cycling stability, specific capacitance, and working voltage window, with positively charged electrolytes being more effective than negatively charged ones.

Rheology of Entangled Polyelectrolyte Solutions

Aijie Han et al.

Summary: The dynamics of polyelectrolyte solutions have been studied experimentally and theoretically, showing that at predicted entanglement concentrations, the response of the polyelectrolyte solutions appear unentangled. At higher concentrations in entangled solutions, the behavior of polyelectrolyte solutions resembles that of solutions of neutral polymers. Four methods for evaluating entanglement concentration have been compared, with results similar to those of neutral polymer solutions.

Yude Su et al.

Summary: In this study, a biotic-abiotic composite consisting of self-doped conjugated polyelectrolyte and electrogenic bacteria is demonstrated to reversibly switch between electrical current generation and electrochemical energy storage by the simple addition and removal of Mg2+ in the bulk electrolyte. This switch in functionality is achieved through reversible changes in the composite's macrostructures and the number of living bacteria within it, showing the possibility of on-demand switching between current generation and charge storage with one integrated living material.
