A computational approach for modeling electronic circular dichroism of solvated chromophores

Marta Monti et al.

Summary: The present study introduces a novel computational protocol for modeling the UV-circular dichroism spectra of solvated species. It utilizes quantum-chemical calculations to account for the conformational motion and solvent effects, and has been proven to provide reliable results. Temperature effects are also properly considered, and the method is validated through comparison with experimental data.

Molecular design of fluorescent pH sensors based on reduced rhodol by structure-pKa relationship for imaging of lysosome

Kunal N. More et al.

Summary: Maintaining pH-homeostasis is crucial for cell survival, as abnormal pH in lysosomes can lead to various diseases. A series of novel pH-sensitive fluorescent sensors were developed based on a structure-pKa relationship study, showing potential for monitoring acidic lysosomes.

Reversible isomerization of metal nanoclusters induced by intermolecular interaction

Yitao Cao et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that intermolecular interactions between adsorbed molecules and surface ligands can influence the core structure of inorganic nanoparticles. Additionally, a reversible transformation between two isomers of [Au-25(p-MBA)(18)](-) nanoclusters was achieved through coupling/decoupling of cationic surfactants and anionic surface ligands in the aqueous phase, showing characteristics of a reversible nanocluster isomerization process.

Covalent and non-covalent coupling of a Au102 nanocluster with a fluorophore: energy transfer, quenching and intracellular pH sensing

Eero Hulkko et al.

Summary: The study investigated the interaction between an atomically precise gold nanocluster and a fluorescent organic dye molecule. By covalently linking the dye to the nanocluster, the hybrids could enter cells and release their cargo via hydrolysis of the ester bond. Changes in pH inside endosomes regulated reversible fluorescence, paving the way for future development of cluster-reporter sensors for in vivo measurements.
