Persistence of the Topological Surface States in Bi2Se3 against Ag Intercalation at Room Temperature

Mao Ye et al.

Summary: The study reveals that deposited Ag atoms on the topological insulator Bi2Se3 surface are stabilized beneath the surface instead of being adsorbed on the topmost surface. The presence of Ag atoms does not disturb the topological surface states. Through angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and first-principles calculations, the distribution and most favorable locations of Ag atoms beneath the surface are identified.

Spatial Control of Charge Doping in n-Type Topological Insulators

Kazuyuki Sakamoto et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates a novel method for doping a hole into n-type topological insulators Bi2X3 by adsorbing H2O on Bi2X3 decorated with carbon and triggering it with photon irradiation. This method allows for controlling the doping amount through irradiation time and can act as photolithography, offering a promising avenue for the development of spintronics devices based on topological insulators at the nanometer scale.

Nanosecond dynamics in intrinsic topological insulator Bi2-xSbxSe3 revealed by time-resolved optical reflectivity

Adam L. Gross et al.

Summary: Utilizing ultrafast time-resolved transient reflectivity, we observed a substantial slowing of carrier relaxation time in bulk-insulating Bi2-xSbxSe3 compared to n-type Bi2Se3 at low temperatures, approaching 3.3 ns in the zero pump fluence limit. This long-lived decay is attributed to slow bimolecular recombination of bulk carriers, revealing unique decay dynamics not present in n-type Bi2Se3.
