Facet-dependent catalytic activity of two-dimensional Ti3C2Tx MXene on hydrogen storage performance of MgH2

Summary: The catalytic effects of two-dimensional Ti3C2Tx MXenes with different exposed facets on MgH2 were systematically investigated through experimental and theoretical approaches. The exposed facets were found to be the dominant factor for the catalytic activity of Ti3C2Tx towards MgH2. Ti3C2Tx with more exposed edge facets exhibited higher catalytic activity than that with more exposed basal facets and resulted in different rate-controlling steps during the de/hydrogenation process of MgH2.

Catalytic role of binary oxides (CuO and Al2O3) on hydrogen storage in MgH2

Remarkable enhancement and electronic mechanism for hydrogen storage kinetics of Mg nano-composite by a multi-valence Co-based catalyst

Summary: This study investigates the improvement of hydrogen storage performance of Mg by preparing a multi-valence cobalt catalyst (Co@CNTs). The addition of the catalyst reduces the dehydrogenation temperature and significantly enhances the desorption kinetics of MgH2. The dehydrogenation process of the MgH2-Co@CNTs composite is a random bulk nucleation/surface and three-dimensional growth reaction. The cycle performance of the composite is stable, with negligible degradation after 50 cycles. The in situ formed Co3MgC0.5 in the composite acts as a "hydrogen pump" to adjust the hydrogen storage performance of Mg.

Two-dimensional vanadium nanosheets as a remarkably effective catalyst for hydrogen storage in MgH2

Summary: In this study, highly effective two-dimensional vanadium nanosheets (V-NS) were successfully prepared via a wet chemical ball milling method, significantly improving the hydrogen storage performance of MgH2. The MgH2 composite with 7% V-NS started releasing hydrogen at lower temperatures and released a significant amount of hydrogen within 10 minutes. Additionally, metallic vanadium as a catalytic unit facilitated the dehydrogenation and hydrogen absorption reactions of MgH2.

Ni2P/NiMoP heterostructure as a bifunctional electrocatalyst for energy-saving hydrogen production

Summary: An effective approach is introduced in this study to replace the anodic oxygen evolution reaction with a urea oxidation reaction, significantly decreasing the cell voltage for hydrogen production. The Ni2P/NiMoP catalyst shows impressive activity for both hydrogen evolution and oxygen evolution during hydrogen production. The introduction of urea results in a significant reduction in oxidation voltage, and the two-electrode electrolyzer with Ni2P/NiMoP catalyst exhibits excellent long-term durability.
