Comparison of different extraction methods of Brazilian pacova (Renealmia petasites Gagnep.) oilseeds for the determination of lipid and terpene composition, antioxidant capacity, and inhibitory effect on neurodegenerative enzymes

Luana Cristina dos Santos et al.

Summary: The study investigated the chemical characterization of oilseed of Renealmia petasites and found that supercritical fluid extraction was most selective for fatty acids and terpenes, with 2-carene identified as the main terpene. While the extracts showed poor AChE inhibition, the Soxhlet method exhibited potential inhibitory effect against lipoxygenase activity. Further research on the potential health benefits of terpenes in R. petasites oilseed is encouraged.
