Efficacy of sentinel lymph node mapping in endometrial cancer with low- or high-intermediate risk

Yu Xue et al.

Summary: SLN mapping with ICG showed high detection rates and acceptable diagnostic efficacy in Chinese women with endometrial cancer, but may lead to higher missed diagnoses in patients with high-intermediate risk.

ESGO/ESTRO/ESP guidelines for the management of patients with endometrial carcinoma

Nicole Concin et al.

Summary: The European consensus conference on endometrial carcinoma in 2014 aimed to produce multi-disciplinary evidence-based guidelines. Since then, the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO), the European SocieTy for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), and the European Society of Pathology (ESP) have decided to update the guidelines and cover new topics to improve care for women with endometrial carcinoma globally.

Lymphedema and Post-Operative Complications after Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy versus Lymphadenectomy in Endometrial Carcinomas-A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Rianne J. A. Helgers et al.

Summary: A systematic review compared the risk of lower-extremity lymphedema and post-operative complications in sentinel lymph node (SLN) versus lymph node dissection (LND) in patients with endometrial carcinoma. The results showed that SLN had lower incidence of lower-extremity lymphedema and less often severe post-operative complications compared to LND, supporting the increasing uptake of SLN procedures in endometrial cancer.

A cost-effectiveness analysis of three approaches for lymph node assessment in patients with low- and intermediate-risk endometrial cancer

Lara C. Burg et al.

Summary: The study compared the cost-effectiveness of sentinel lymph node mapping, risk factor assessment, and full lymph node dissection in patients with endometrial cancer. Results showed that sentinel lymph node mapping was the most effective strategy for lymph node assessment in low and intermediate-risk patients. Sensitivity analyses demonstrated the robustness of the model to changes in input values.

Assessment of Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy vs Lymphadenectomy for Intermediate- and High-Grade Endometrial Cancer Staging

Maria C. Cusimano et al.

Summary: In women with intermediate- and high-grade endometrial cancer, sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) showed a sensitivity of 96% and a negative predictive value of 99% for nodal metastasis detection. SLNB had acceptable diagnostic accuracy and improved the detection of node-positive cases compared with lymphadenectomy, suggesting it is a viable option for surgical staging in this patient population.

Impact of Sentinel Node Mapping in Decreasing the Risk of Lymphocele in Endometrial Cancer

Thiago Pereira Diniz et al.

Summary: The study indicates that lymphocele formation risk is significantly reduced in endometrial cancer patients who undergo lymph node staging through SLN mapping. Systematic lymphadenectomy is identified as a risk factor for lymphocele presence.
