Quantum Criticality of Antiferromagnetism and Superconductivity with Relativity

Hanqing Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated a quantum phase transition from a massless to massive Dirac fermion phase in a new two-dimensional bipartite lattice model of electrons. Our findings revealed a new chiral spin-charge symmetric universality class in which both antiferromagnetism and superconductivity are simultaneously quantum critical.

Deconvolving the components of the sign problem

S. Tarat et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the two mechanisms for the vanishing of the sign problem in quantum simulations: whether randomly chosen field configurations have negative det[M(h)], or if the specific subset of configurations chosen by the weighting function have a greater preponderance of negative values. By conducting auxiliary field quantum Monte Carlo simulations of interacting fermions, the relative importance of these two mechanisms can be better understood.

Random-mass disorder in the critical Gross-Neveu-Yukawa models

Hennadii Yerzhakov et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of quenched randomness on quantum phase transitions in systems of itinerant fermions. By using the replica method and controlled epsilon expansion, the research identifies new critical points and examines the universal critical exponents in various GNY models perturbed by random-mass disorder. The analysis also explores the bifurcations of the renormalization-group flow and uncovers instances of fixed-point annihilation, transcritical bifurcation, and supercritical Hopf bifurcation, leading to the emergence of fermionic quantum criticality with discrete scale invariance.

Antiferromagnetic character of the quantum phase transition in the Hubbard model on the honeycomb lattice

Johann Ostmeyer et al.

Summary: In this study, a comprehensive analysis of the operators contributing to the structure factors and order parameters of the hexagonal Hubbard Model was conducted using the Hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm. The results improve the consistency of Monte Carlo determinations of critical exponents and provide insights into the semimetal-Mott insulator transition in the hexagonal Hubbard Model. The methods employed are applicable to a wide range of lattice theories involving strongly correlated electrons.

Fermion-enhanced first-order phase transition and chiral Gross-Neveu tricritical point

Yuzhi Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that massless Dirac fermions can enhance bosonic phase transitions, increasing the parameter range for first-order transitions. The microscopic mechanism behind this phenomenon involves the interplay between critical fluctuations and finite-size effects.
