Comparison of isokinetic knee torque and bioelectrical activity for hamstrings, quadriceps and erector spinae muscles in elite rowers

Jaroslaw Kabacinski et al.

Summary: Isokinetic testing showed significantly higher quadriceps peak torque at the beginning of the preparatory period for elite sweep rowers, with no significant difference in knee peak torque between lower extremities. Electromyography testing revealed significant differences in bioelectrical activity between the sides in quadriceps, hamstrings, and lumbar erector spinae for sweep rowers.

Temperature and creatine kinase changes during a 10d taper period in sprinters

Pawel Korman et al.

Summary: This study found that successive speed-power training sessions led to a decrease in resting skin temperature and an increase in CK levels, and altered the circadian rhythm of body temperature. It suggests that the training microcycle should last about a week to prevent physiological disruption.

The use of infrared thermography for the dynamic measurement of skin temperature of moving athletes during competition; methodological issues

Polly E. Aylwin et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates the sensitivity of using infrared thermography for measuring athletes' skin temperature during competition. Different infrared bands cameras have differences in image quality and temperature measurement. In low motion scenarios, the cheaper longwave infrared camera provides a feasible alternative to the medium-wave infrared camera.

The Impulse of Force as an Effective Indicator of Exercise Capacity in Competitive Rowers and Canoeists

Katarzyna Domaszewska et al.

Summary: This study emphasizes the importance of measuring force impulse in evaluating the exercise capacity of professional rowers and canoeists. It indicates a correlation between force impulse and testosterone levels, suggesting it as a simple and effective method for assessing overall exercise capacity.
