Process optimization of KOH catalyzed biodiesel production from crude sunflower-mahua oil

M. Udayakumar et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to optimize the process parameters for maximum biodiesel conversion from mixed crude sunflower-mahua oil (CSMO) through sequential esterification-transesterification reactions. The Plackett-Burman design was used to screen significant factors, and the response surface methodology was employed to establish a model between independent and dependent process parameters. The optimal solution for biodiesel production was found using the generalized reduced gradient method. The results showed that mixed CSMO could be a promising feedstock for biodiesel production.

Impact of yttria stabilized zirconia coating on diesel engine performance and emission characteristics fuelled by lemon grass oil biofuel

Karthickeyan Viswanathan et al.

Summary: The study aims to improve efficiency and reduce harmful emissions from diesel engines by using lemongrass biofuel and coating the combustion unit with ceramic layer. This approach resulted in higher engine efficiency, reduced fuel consumption, and decreased emissions like smoke, HC, and CO, though NOx levels remained relatively unchanged.

Effect of Thermal Barrier Coating on the Performance and Emissions of Diesel Engine Operated with Conventional Diesel and Palm Oil Biodiesel

Navin Ramasamy et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the performance and emission of a thermal barrier coating (TBC) engine using palm oil biodiesel and diesel as fuels. Experimental results showed that specific blend ratios of TBC coatings could significantly reduce NO, CO, CO2, and HC emissions while also improving brake thermal efficiency.

A general view to converting fossil fuels to cleaner energy source by adding nanoparticles

Umit Agbulut et al.

Summary: The study highlights the impact of diesel combustion on greenhouse gas emissions and suggests the use of nanoparticles as an effective method to reduce harmful exhaust gases. It is suggested that adding nanoparticles can improve the thermal properties of diesel, promote better combustion, and thus reduce adverse environmental effects.
