Agricultural surface water, imidacloprid, and chlorantraniliprole result in altered gene expression and receptor activation in Pimephales promelas

Sarah A. Stinson et al.

Summary: The study found that the toxicity of newer pesticides, imidacloprid and chlorantraniliprole, may be underestimated when considering complex pesticide mixtures in agricultural runoff, affecting aquatic organisms. Exposure to field water led to high invertebrate mortality, while fish showed significant changes in gene expression and neuromuscular function. Both compounds targeted specific molecular pathways in aquatic organisms, suggesting potential impacts on aquatic ecosystems.

Chemosensory proteins confer adaptation to the ryanoid anthranilic diamide insecticide cyantraniliprole in Aphis gossypii glover

Hongfei Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, we found that AgoCSP1, AgoCSP4, and AgoCSP5 were overexpressed in an insecticide-resistant strain of Aphis gossypii and showed higher expression in broad body tissue than in the midgut. Suppression of these AgoCSPs increased the sensitivity of resistant aphids to cyantraniliprole. Transgenic Drosophila melanogaster expressing these AgoCSPs showed higher tolerance to cyantraniliprole.
