Characterization of organophosphate pesticide sorption of potato peel biochar as low cost adsorbent for chlorpyrifos removal

Mukesh Singh et al.

Summary: There is a growing interest in using biochar made from natural organic wastes as sustainable precursors for bioremediation. In this study, potato peel biochar was produced and used as a bioadsorbent for commercial pesticide bioremediation. The results showed that biochar had a high pesticide removal rate under specific conditions. The study also characterized the potato peel biochar and evaluated its biocompatibility and promotion of plant growth. The findings highlight the potential applications of biochar in agriculture, industry, and the energy sector.

Nanostructured modified biochar for effective elimination of chlorpyrifos from wastewater: Enhancement, mechanisms and performance

Summary: In this study, a novel nano-structured activated biochar based adsorbent was developed for the removal of CPF from contaminated water. The adsorbent showed significantly enhanced adsorption capacity due to increased specific surface area and pore volume. The adsorption equilibrium and kinetics data were well described by Langmuir and first order models respectively. The mechanisms of CPF adsorption onto the adsorbent were found to involve hydrogen bonding, pi-pi interaction, hydrophobic and electrostatic interlinkage.

Chitosan functionalized AgNPs for efficient removal of Imidacloprid pesticide through a pressure-free design

Mahmoud Moustafa et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the removal of Imidacloprid pesticide from water using pressure-free passage through polymeric membrane integrated design. Chitosan and chitosan functionalized silver nanoparticles membranes successfully removed 40% and 85% of Imidacloprid, respectively, at slightly acidic pH. The results indicate the promising use of AgNPs @chitosan membranes for removal of Imidacloprid pesticide from contaminated water without external energy support.
