Charlene Delacotte et al.

Summary: This study reports on the magnetocaloric properties of the AGdS(2) family and finds that NaGdS2 exhibits the best performance. The layered structure of NaGdS2 significantly improves the magnetocaloric properties compared to LiGdS2. These magnetocaloric figures of merit highlight the promising potential of Gd-based sulfides as magnetic refrigeration materials.

Magnetocaloric Effect, Dielectric Relaxor Behavior, and Evidence for Direct Magnetodielectric Behavior in Ni0.6Zn0.4Al0.5Fe1.5O4 Ceramics for High-Temperature Applications

Jalel Massoudi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the magnetic properties of Ni0.6Zn0.4Al0.5Fe1.5O4 ceramics as a function of varying temperature. The results show that the sharp change in magnetization at Curie temperatures produces a reasonable magnetic entropy change (Delta S-M). The NiZnAl ferrite is predicted to work better than other spinel ferrites with higher efficiencies. Near the second-order transition, critical exponents are derived from the magnetic entropy changes field dependency. Their values are close to the mean field model.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of sintering temperature change on the structural, magnetic, and magnetocaloric properties of PrCaMn2O6 compound. Results showed that with increasing sintering temperature, the grain size of samples increased and impurity phases decreased. Magnetic measurements indicated that all samples exhibited a second order magnetic phase transition.

Summary: Polycrystalline Fe0.25TiS2 samples exhibit an irreversible AFM-FM transition at low temperatures, leading to significant changes in resistivity and magnetic properties. The presence of a high-coercive metastable FM state is suggested to be due to the Ising character of Fe ions and magnetoelastic interaction.

P. Kayser et al.

Summary: Double perovskites containing Ir4+ were synthesized using a citrate technique and characterized by NPD and SXRPD, showing competitive antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic interactions. The magnetic structures of the compounds were found to have a strong dependence on the rare-earth ions, affecting the arrangement of Ni2+ and Ir4+ moments.

Antiferromagnetic switching driven by the collective dynamics of a coexisting spin glass

Eran Maniv et al.

Summary: It is demonstrated that the coexistence of spin glass and antiferromagnetic order allows a novel mechanism for switching the antiferromagnet Fe1/3 + delta NbS2, rooted in the electrically stimulated collective winding of the spin glass. This manipulation of antiferromagnetic spin textures using the collective dynamics of a spin glass opens up new material platforms for antiferromagnetic spintronics with complex magnetic textures.
