Insight into BDD electrochemical oxidation of florfenicol in water: Kinetics, reaction mechanism, and toxicity

Selvendiran Periyasamy et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that electrochemical advanced oxidation treatment with boron-doped diamond anode is effective for the degradation of florfenicol (FLO) in water, showing improved removal efficiency and reaction rate constant with increasing current intensity. The presence of free hydroxyl radicals (OH) and sulfate radicals (SO4-) during the process contributes to faster degradation and higher mineralization of the FLO solution.

Novel electrochemical advanced oxidation processes with H2O2 generation cathode for water treatment: A review

Chao Qu et al.

Summary: Recently, electrochemical advanced oxidation processes (EAOPs) for water treatment have been implemented using cathodic oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) to generate hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). H2O2 can be activated using reagents like Fe2+ and O3 to produce hydroxyl radicals (center dot OH) for further reduction of organic compounds. This study investigates carbon-based materials as catalysts for H2O2 generation cathode and introduces the development of cutting-edge EAOPs based on H2O2 generation cathode through three case studies. The future prospects of EAOPs based on H2O2 generation cathode are discussed.

Fundamentals and applications of photoelectrocatalysis as an efficient process to remove pollutants from water: A review

Paulina Alulema-Pullupaxi et al.

Summary: Water pollution is a growing environmental problem due to population growth, industrialization, and agricultural expansion. Conventional wastewater treatment methods are ineffective in removing organic and toxic pollutants, but electrochemical advanced oxidation processes, particularly photoelectrocatalysis (PEC), offer a promising solution. PEC technology involves applying bias potential to a semiconductor film on a conductive substrate to enhance degradation of pollutants in water.

P-cresol degradation through Fe(III)-EDDS/H2O2 Fenton-like reaction enhanced by manganese ion: Effect of pH and reaction mechanism

Meng Xiao et al.

Summary: In this study, the degradation of p-cresol by the Fe(III)-EDDS/H2O2 Fenton-like reaction modified by Mn2+ was investigated. It was found that the addition of Mn2+ under neutral and weakly alkaline conditions significantly increased the removal rate of p-cresol. However, acidic conditions were not conducive to the Fenton-like reaction. The study suggests that a neutral or weakly alkaline environment is beneficial for the formation of Mn2+-EDDS complex, leading to enhanced efficiency in p-cresol degradation.
