Automating look-ahead schedule generation for construction using linked-data based constraint checking and reinforcement learning

Summary: This paper introduces a novel method using reinforcement learning to aid construction professionals in efficiently planning construction activities during the look-ahead planning stage. The proposed method can generate conflict-free plans faster than conventional methods, demonstrating its effectiveness as a decision support tool. Through the application of reinforcement learning, this work extends existing knowledge in construction informatics domain and addresses issues associated with manual look-ahead planning.

Key Last Planner System Metrics to Assess Project Performance in High-Rise Building and Industrial Construction Projects

The evaluation of 255 projects reveals that six metrics in high-rise building projects present statistically significant differences between high and low performance.

The study contributes to the body of knowledge and provides insight for stakeholders, construction firms, academics, researchers, and government to focus their efforts and resources on key issues.
