Deterioration of concrete under the coupling effects of freeze-thaw cycles and other actions: A review

Ruijun Wang et al.

Summary: The coupling action between freeze-thaw (FT) cycles and chemical actions is a significant cause of concrete deterioration, with the combination of different degradation processes potentially resulting in more severe damage. Chemical actions have both positive and negative effects on FT cycles, while physical actions only exacerbate FT damage in synergy.

Improvement of Recycled Aggregates Properties by Means of CO2 Uptake

Marie Sereng et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the parametric study of accelerated carbonation of RCAs to store a maximum amount of CO2 and enhance their properties. The results indicate that each parameter affects CO2 storage, with an optimal water content for maximum CO2 uptake depending on the nature and source of RCAs, while accelerated carbonation can reduce the water absorption coefficient of RCAs by up to 67%. Additionally, carbonation decreases porosity by filling the capillary pores.
