From overkill to beheading: A case report of a schizophrenic matricide

Giulia Petroni et al.

Summary: The study examined a subtype of extreme violence - matricide committed by individuals with mental disorders, particularly schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Forensic pathological and psychiatric analyses were conducted on a case involving a young male diagnosed with schizophrenia, revealing a causal relationship between active psychotic symptoms and homicidal behavior. Specific delusional content and the perpetrator-victim relationship may contribute to explaining this type of violent homicide in recent onset schizophrenia.

Violence Against Prostitutes and Non-prostitutes: An Analysis of Frequency, Variety and Severity

Georgia Zara et al.

Summary: Violence against women, particularly femicide, is a global health and human rights issue. Research on femicide cases in North West Italy showed that victims are mainly killed by men they know, with intimate relationships increasing the risk of overkill. Prostitutes are more likely to be victims of sexual murder and excessive violence. Identifying and addressing these risk factors is crucial in preventing violence against women.
