Parametric generation of spin waves in nanoscaled magnonic conduits

Bjoern Heinz et al.

Summary: Magnonics is a low-energy wave-logic computation technology based on spin waves, which can be used in logic circuits and networks. Parallel pumping is an effective tool to manipulate and amplify spin waves. This research investigates nanoscaled magnonic nanoconduits using microfocused Brillouin-light-scattering spectroscopy and finds that parallel pumping is feasible at the nanoscale.

The 2021 Magnonics Roadmap

Anjan Barman et al.

Summary: Magnonics is a burgeoning research field that focuses on utilizing spin waves to transmit, store, and process information, showing significant progress in the past decade. The key challenges include excitation of sub-100 nm wavelength magnons, manipulation on the nanoscale, and creation of sub-micrometre devices using low-Gilbert damping magnetic materials. Magnonics offers advantages such as lower energy consumption, easier integrability, compatibility with CMOS structure, reprogrammability, shorter wavelength, smaller device features, anisotropic properties, negative group velocity, non-reciprocity, and efficient tunability by various external stimuli.

Time Refraction of Spin Waves

K. Schultheiss et al.

Summary: The experimental study demonstrates the time refraction phenomenon of spin waves propagating in microscopic waveguides under the influence of time-varying magnetic fields, achieving a broadband and controllable shift of the spin wave frequency with a conversion efficiency up to 39%. The impact of time-varying magnetic fields on spin wave dispersion relation can be quantified on a length scale comparable to the spin wave wavelength, allowing for the excitation of spin wave bursts with nanosecond durations and frequency shifts depending on pulse polarity.
