ANFIS, ANN, and RSM modeling of moisture content reduction of cocoyam slices

Chijioke Elijah Onu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the modeling and predicting ability of RSM, ANN, and ANFIS in reducing moisture content during the drying process of cocoyam slices. Results showed significant impact of drying time, air velocity, and temperature on the process, with ANFIS performing the best in modeling and predicting moisture reduction.

A comparative optimization and modeling of ammonia-nitrogen adsorption from abattoir wastewater using a novel iron-functionalized crab shell

Paschal Enyinnaya Ohale et al.

Summary: In this study, a high-grade adsorbent (Fe-CS) was successfully synthesized from waste crab shells for the removal of ammonia-nitrogen from abattoir wastewater. The characterization of Fe-CS showed that it had the necessary qualities for efficient chelation. The analysis of variance revealed that the dosage of Fe-CS was the most influential parameter in the adsorption process. The comparison of different mathematical models demonstrated that the ANFIS model had the highest accuracy in predicting the adsorptive removal of ammonia-nitrogen. The thermodynamic studies confirmed the spontaneous, endothermic, favorable, and physical nature of the adsorption process.

Multi-characteristic optimization and modeling analysis of electrocoagulation treatment of abattoir wastewater using iron electrode pairs

Christopher Chiedozie Obi et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the multi-characteristic optimization and modeling analysis of electrocoagulation treatment of abattoir wastewater using iron-iron electrodes. The research applied Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Artificial Intelligent (AI) modeling tools such as Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) for modeling and optimization. The results showed that all models had high determination coefficients, indicating their accuracy. However, the performance error indices revealed that the ANFIS model had the best prediction accuracy. The validated optimization results confirmed the reliability of the models.

Optimisation of biodiesel production from dairy effluent scum using calcined egg shell as a transesterification catalyst

O. Kuipa et al.

Summary: The production of biodiesel from dairy effluent scum using calcined egg shell as the transesterification catalyst was studied. Factors such as methanol-oil molar ratio, catalyst concentration, and reaction temperature were investigated, leading to an empirical model that achieved a yield of 92.72% under optimal variable settings. The model showed high statistical significance and revealed that the methanol-oil molar ratio had the greatest contribution to the biodiesel yield.

Estimation of biogas yields produced from combination of waste by implementing response surface methodology (RSM) and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS)

M. O. Okwu et al.

Summary: Through the analysis of RSM and ANFIS results, it is evident that the prediction obtained from ANFIS is statistically superior and provides faster and more accurate predictions compared to the RSM model.
