Six Key Advantages and Disadvantages of Working from Home in Europe during COVID-19

Summary: The number of people working from home increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to investigate people's experiences of WFH during the pandemic and identify the main factors of advantages and disadvantages. Data from 29 European countries showed that most people had a more positive than negative experience of WFH, with factors such as work-life balance and improved work efficiency being key advantages.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has made working from home a crucial option for many employees, but it may exacerbate inequalities in the labor market. Male, older, highly educated, and high-paid employees are more likely to benefit from remote work, as well as those living in areas more severely affected by the pandemic. Policies should focus on addressing these inequalities and implementing measures to mitigate the consequences.
