More indications for lepton nonuniversality in b → sl+l-

T. Hurth et al.

Summary: The study by the LHCb collaboration confirms evidence for lepton flavour nonuniversality through updated measurements of R-K at a 3.1 Sigma level. Projections for future measurements suggest that LHCb may discover lepton nonuniversality in a single observable with Run 3 data. The study also analyzes other ratios and their ability to differentiate between various new physics options within effective field theory. Additionally, deviations in the ratios are compared with NP indications in angular observables of exclusive b -> sll transitions.

Leptoquark manoeuvres in the dark: a simultaneous solution of the dark matter problem and the RD(*) anomalies

Genevieve Belanger et al.

Summary: The measured branching fractions of B-mesons into leptonic final states suggest lepton flavour universality violation. This study explores the possibility of introducing a scalar leptoquark S-1 to explain this anomaly and also serve as a mediator between the Standard Model and a dark sector. Various constraints from collider searches, direct detection experiments, and the dark matter relic abundance are considered. The results highlight the importance of understanding the decay of pairs of leptoquarks into different final states for identifying the underlying dynamics.

Leptoquark-vectorlike quark model for the CDF mW, (g-2)μ, RK(*) anomalies, and neutrino masses

Summary: This paper discusses some drawbacks of the Standard Model and proposes a model consisting of two scalar leptoquarks and a vectorlike quark to explain the observed deviations in W-boson mass, (g-2)mu, and neutral current transitions in B-meson decays. The proposed model also provides an explanation for the origin of neutrino mass and can be fully tested at future colliders.

Unveiling hidden physics at the LHC

Oliver Fischer et al.

Summary: Particle physics is at a crossroads, as the completion of the Standard Model and the observation of anomalies beyond the model offer both opportunities and challenges for future research. Systemic deficiencies in experiments and search strategies may hinder the discovery of beyond the Standard Model physics, but new search strategies utilizing CERN open data can help uncover hidden signatures. Access to open data is crucial for fully exploiting the potential of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

b → sl+l- global fits after RKS and RK*+

Marcel Alguero et al.

Summary: We present an up-to-date complete model-independent global fit to b -> sll observables and confirm patterns of New Physics able to explain the data. The results suggest that both right-handed couplings and lepton flavour universality violating (LFUV) left-handed lepton couplings are possibilities, and the LFUV observable Q(5) can distinguish between these two scenarios.

Low-energy phenomenology of scalar leptoquarks at one-loop accuracy

Summary: In this study, we conducted a comprehensive examination of the low-energy phenomenology of S-1 and S-3 leptoquarks, focusing on their impact on deviations observed in B-meson decays and the muon magnetic dipole moment. By calculating leptoquark contributions to observables at one-loop accuracy using an effective field theory approach, we presented various scenarios and discussed the preferred parameter space and most relevant observables in each case.

Sensitivity of the Cherenkov Telescope Array to a dark matter signal from the Galactic centre

A. Acharyya et al.

Summary: The updated assessment of the power of the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) reveals its potential to search for thermally produced dark matter at the TeV scale, significantly expanding the range of testable models and probing various well-motivated models with unprecedented sensitivity and resolution. CTA's survey of the inner Galaxy will map with unprecedented precision the large-scale diffuse emission in high-energy gamma rays, constituting a background for dark matter searches. Throughout the analysis, attention is paid to quantifying the level of instrumental and background template systematic uncertainties required to probe thermally produced dark matter at these energies.

On the significance of new physics in b → sl+l- decays

Gino Isidori et al.

Summary: The study evaluates the global significance of the new physics hypothesis in b -> sl(+)l(-) decays, incorporating the look-elsewhere effect for the first time. The trial-factor is estimated with pseudo-experiments, showing it can be as large as seven. The global significance is calculated to be 4.3 standard deviations by considering the most general description of a non-standard b -> sl(+)l(-) amplitude of short-distance origin and treating theoretical uncertainties in a highly conservative manner.

Summary: In this study, an angular analysis of the B+ -> K*(+)(-> K-S(0)pi(+))mu(+) mu(-) decay was conducted using data from the LHCb experiment. Implications of new evidence for lepton-universality violation in b → sl+ l- decays

Li-Sheng Geng et al.

Summary: Motivated by new evidence for new physics in b -> sll transitions, including clean lepton-universality ratios and purely leptonic Bs -> mu(+)mu(-) decay measurements, a discrepancy with the Standard Model at 4.0 sigma has been quantified. Different scenarios, such as purely left-handed or purely axial coupling to muons, show a 5 sigma pull from the Standard Model. The analysis of new-physics contributions with both vector and axial-vector couplings to muons has a more restricted allowed region, primarily due to the more precise measurement of Bs -> mu(+) mu(-) and inclusion of angular observables data.

Leptoquarks and real singlets: A richer scalar sector behind the origin of dark matter

Francesco D'Eramo et al.

Summary: The study focuses on scenarios with scalar leptoquarks acting as portals between the Standard Model and dark matter, investigating the coupling between dark matter, leptoquarks, and the Higgs boson. The potential Yukawa couplings of the leptoquark to quarks and leptons are considered in addressing anomalies in B meson decays, with a particular emphasis on the interplay between astrophysical, collider, and flavor physics bounds on such models. In the heavy dark matter window, the leptoquark portal emerges as the dominant mechanism to explain dark matter abundance, decoupled from the dark matter phenomenology.
