Blood-brain barrier-penetrating single CRISPR-Cas9 nanocapsules for effective and safe glioblastoma gene therapy

Yan Zou et al.

Summary: We designed a unique nanocapsule for efficient and safe gene therapy of glioblastoma. Our nanocapsules can penetrate the blood-brain barrier, target tumor cells, and selectively release the Cas9/sgRNA complex. Experiments demonstrated accurate and efficient gene editing in glioblastoma tissue with minimal off-target effects in high-risk tissues. Treatment with nanocapsules significantly extended survival time.

In situ growth of laser-induced graphene micro-patterns on arbitrary substrates

Ednan Joanni et al.

Summary: In this article, we present a new laser processing method that combines in situ graphitization of polyimide with simultaneous transfer of graphene patterns onto various substrates. The synthesis conditions are similar to those of the well-known laser-induced graphene method. This approach involves enclosing polyimide sheets between microscope glass slides and has successfully generated graphene patterns on glass and PDMS substrates, as well as graphene decorated with metals and oxides. To illustrate its usefulness, this method was applied to the fabrication of hybrid supercapacitors which exhibited excellent electrochemical performance.

Large-Scale and Low-Cost Preparation of Ordered Honeycomb-Patterned Film by Solvent Evaporation-Induced Phase Separation Method

Qi Cheng et al.

Summary: A large-scale and low-cost method for producing highly ordered honeycomb-patterned film using commonly commercialized polymers was proposed. The method allows for preparation of uniform and highly ordered honeycomb structures in normal indoor environments without the need for specific relative humidity or stabilizers. By controlling the solvent-nonsolvent ratio and experimental processing conditions, pore size can be adjusted. This approach can be applied to various shapes and has significantly improved hydrophobic properties.

Thiol-ene click chemistry synthesis of a novel magnetic mesoporous silica/chitosan composite for selective Hg(II) capture and high catalytic activity of spent Hg(II) adsorbent

Haifeng He et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel magnetic mesoporous silica/chitosan (MMS/CS) composite was synthesized using the thiol-ene click reaction strategy for selective capture and reuse of toxic Hg(II) from aqueous media. The obtained materials exhibited high Hg(II) uptake capacity and rate, and could be utilized as efficient catalysts for organic transformations. This work provides a new and facile method for preparing chitosan-based functional materials with promising application potentials in environmental and catalytic fields.
