Quantifying Exciton Transport in Singlet Fission Diblock Copolymers

Guiying He et al.

Summary: Singlet fission is an important mechanism for exciton multiplication in organic chromophores. Understanding its dynamics in block copolymers (BCPs) is crucial for designing effective optoelectronic devices. In this study, we designed diblock copolymers with a specific structure to facilitate exciton transport along the BCP chain. By quantifying the yields of key energy transfer steps, we gained valuable insights into exciton transport at critical length scales between bulk crystalline systems and small-molecule dimers.

Diketopyrrolopyrrole-based conjugated polymers synthesized by direct arylation polycondensation for anisole-processed high mobility organic thin-film transistors

Ying Sui et al.

Summary: Two soluble conjugated polymers Fu-F and Fu-Cl were successfully synthesized via direct arylation polycondensation (DArP). Fu-F showed better device performance with an electron mobility of up to 2.79 cm(2) V-1 s(-1). The study demonstrates that high mobility CPs processed with green solvents can be synthesized by DArP.

Review Magnetic field effects on singlet fission dynamics

Rong Xu et al.

Summary: This review summarizes recent studies on the magnetic field effects (MFEs) in singlet fission dynamics, including theoretical models and experimental results. The analysis of MFEs supports a three-step model with a dynamic equilibrium between strongly and weakly coupled triplet pairs, and suggests that an intermediate regime of intertriplet coupling is favorable for singlet-quintet mixing, leading to efficient triplet generation for practical applications.

H-Type-like Aggregation-Accelerated Singlet Fission Process in Dipyrrolonaphthyridinedione Thin Film: The Role of Charge Transfer/Excimer Mixed Intermediate State

Long Wang et al.

Summary: Through experimental observations, it was found that an accelerated singlet fission process occurred in strongly coupled H-type-like aggregation thin films. This was attributed to the close energy levels between the charge transfer state and singlet and excimer states, resulting in a mixed state that promoted the SF process.

High-Lying 31Ag Dark-State-Mediated Singlet Fission

Long Wang et al.

Summary: A new photophysical model involving a high-lying 3(1)A(g) dark-state-mediated ultrafast singlet fission (SF) process in the benzodipyrrolidone (BDPP) skeleton was addressed in this study. The distinctive double excitation character of the 3(1)A(g) dark state, described as the multiexciton (ME) state, allows it to be populated from the initial bright state on an ultrafast time scale. With suitable optical band gap and triplet energy, high triplet yield, and excellent photostability, BDPP emerges as a promising SF candidate for photovoltaic devices, enriching the arsenal of SF materials and contributing new insights into the understanding of dark-state-related photophysics.

Free-triplet generation with improved efficiency in tetracene oligomers through spatially separated triplet pair states

Zhiwei Wang et al.

Summary: It has been demonstrated that the efficiency of free-triplet generation through the singlet fission pathway can be significantly improved by employing a spatially separated state with weak intertriplet coupling, rather than the pathway mediated by spatially adjacent states. This leads to a marked enhancement in free-triplet generation efficiency in solar energy conversion applications.

Unconventional singlet fission materials

Tobias Ullrich et al.

Summary: Singlet fission is a photophysical downconversion pathway that transforms a singlet excitation into two triplet excited states, offering potential applications in solar energy conversion devices and other areas. While the mechanistic understanding of SF has evolved rapidly, the limited number of suitable SF-chromophores poses a challenge, necessitating the search for new SF materials.
