Summary: Gene expression measurements may be affected in low-quality RNA samples, but the relative expression orderings (REOs) of gene pairs can still provide valuable information for cancer diagnosis and post-surgery risk prediction. Larger sets of gene pairs in REO-based signatures show more robust performance in non-research-oriented clinical samples compared to concise signatures.
