Site-Specific and Degree-Controlled Alkyl Deuteration via Cu-Catalyzed Redox-Neutral Deacylation

Xukai Zhou et al.

Summary: This study reports a Cu-catalyzed degree-controlled deacylative deuteration method, which allows for the selective introduction of deuterium atoms onto various alkyl groups with good control over the degree of deuteration. This method holds great potential in the synthesis of organic compounds and has been demonstrated to be useful in the synthesis of deuterated ethyl groups, the combination with the Diels-Alder reaction, and the synthesis of the d(2)-analogue of Austedo.

Olefination via Cu-Mediated Dehydroacylation of Unstrained Ketones

Xukai Zhou et al.

Summary: The dehydroacylation of ketones to olefins can be achieved under mild conditions through a unique reaction pathway involving aromatization-driven C-C cleavage and Cu-mediated oxidative elimination. The newly adopted MPHA reagent plays a key role in enabling efficient cleavage of ketone C-C bonds at room temperature. This method allows for the generation of diverse alkyl- and aryl-substituted olefins with broad functional group tolerance, showcasing strategic applications.

Dealkenylative Ni-Catalyzed Cross-Coupling Enabled by Tetrazine and Photoexcitation

Si-Cong Chen et al.

Summary: A new and general method has been developed to functionalize the C(sp(3))-C(sp(2)) bond of alkyl and alkene linkages, allowing for the generation of carbon-centered radicals that can undergo cross-coupling reactions. This one-pot protocol utilizes easily accessible alkene feedstocks for organic synthesis, showing excellent compatibility with various functional groups and eliminating the need for a photoredox catalyst.
