The results showed that the catalysts enhanced electron transfer and reactive oxygen species (ROSs) generation, leading to complete degradation and excellent mineralization of TC. The interaction between Cu sites and in-situ electro-generated H2O2 promoted ROSs production through the bonding bridge, providing new insights into efficient ROSs production during the process.

Varying process variables such as FAC dose, pre-chlorination duration, and solution pH can significantly influence the degradation rate of ETA in the UV/chlorine process. The study provides valuable kinetic and mechanistic insights for designing an efficient UV/chlorine process for treating ETA wastewater, with the energy consumption ranging from 0.22 kWh/m(3) to 3.59 kWh/m(3) for achieving a 90% ETA abatement.
