Dietary bovine milk miRNAs transported in extracellular vesicles are partially stable during GI digestion, are bioavailable and reach target tissues but need a minimum dose to impact on gene expression

Maria-Carmen Lopez Hazas et al.

Summary: Extracellular RNAs are unstable and can be degraded, but milk EVs protect and promote the uptake of miRNAs. However, the concentration of miRNAs in EVs may not be sufficient for gene modulation, although orally delivered EV-loaded miRNAs can reach tissues in vivo, potentially exerting biological effects. Further research is warranted for potential implications in nutrition and health.

p53-Induced LINC00893 Regulates RBFOX2 Stability to Suppress Gastric Cancer Progression

Xinde Ou et al.

Summary: The study revealed that LINC00893 is downregulated in gastric cancer tissues and its low expression is associated with tumor growth, metastasis, and poor survival. Overexpression of LINC00893 inhibits the proliferation, migration, and invasion of gastric cancer cells. Mechanistically, LINC00893 promotes the degradation of RBFOX2 protein, thus suppressing the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and related functions of gastric cancer.

A two-phase comprehensive NSCLC prognostic study identifies lncRNAs with significant main effect and interaction

Jing Zhu et al.

Summary: In this study, the expression of long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was comprehensively evaluated. It was found that one lncRNA (ENSG00000227403.1) had a significant effect on NSCLC prognosis, while a pair of lncRNAs (ENSG00000267121.4 and ENSG00000272369.1) exhibited significant interaction effect on NSCLC survival.

LINC00893 inhibits papillary thyroid cancer by suppressing AKT pathway via stabilizing PTEN

Shujing Li et al.

Summary: LINC00893 is lowly expressed in thyroid carcinoma tissues and acts as a tumor suppressor in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) by inhibiting cell proliferation and migration through modulation of the PTEN/AKT pathway.

Eating microRNAs: pharmacological opportunities for cross-kingdom regulation and implications in host gene and gut microbiota modulation

Lorena del Pozo-Acebo et al.

Summary: Cross-kingdom communication through non-coding RNAs, particularly exogenous miRNAs ingested through diet, has risen as a novel discovery. These miRNAs, considered unstable in the gastrointestinal tract, may resist conditions and exert regulatory effects after being transported in extracellular vesicles. Despite challenges, extracellular miRNAs show promise as potential therapeutic agents for future pharmacological development.

A catenin of the plakophilin-subfamily, Pkp3, responds to canonical- Wnt pathway components and signals

Ji Yeon Hong et al.

Summary: This study investigates the regulation of the plakophilin protein Pkp3 by the Wnt pathway, showing that Wnt ligands or the LRP6 receptor stabilize Pkp3 levels while destruction complex components decrease Pkp3 levels. Additionally, Pkp3 translocates into the nucleus in response to Wnt ligands, indicating that Wnt signals or pathway components can modulate Pkp3-catenin levels.
