Thymoquinone ameliorates pressure overload-induced cardiac hypertrophy by activating the AMPK signalling pathway

Heng Chen et al.

Summary: The study showed that TQ can protect the heart from pathological hypertrophy by preserving cardiac function and reducing hypertrophy, fibrosis, and oxidative stress. In vitro experiments demonstrated that TQ attenuates hypertrophic response in cardiomyocytes. Mechanistic experiments revealed that TQ activates AMPK and inhibits ERK, p38, and JNK MAPK cascades to protect against myocardial hypertrophy.

Modulatory effect of opioid administration on the activity of cholinesterase enzyme: a systematic review of mice/rat models

Hamed Aramjoo et al.

Summary: The specific effect of opioids on the activity of the cholinesterase enzyme is reviewed in literature, showing that opioids can induce cholinergic modulation by decreasing or increasing the enzyme activity. Different brain regions may show varying degrees of changes in ChE activity. The type of opioid used can also impact cholinergic modulation.

Factors that promote and sustain the use of traditional, complementary and integrative medicine services at LEKMA hospital, Ghana, 2017: an observational study

Angela Kenu et al.

Summary: At LEKMA hospital, there is a high preference for the usage of TCIM among patients, with 72.7% showing a strong preference, and managers valuing it as partially sustainable. Factors such as the location and availability of TCIM services influence its usage, while perceived effectiveness is also a key determinant. However, human resources for providing services and the integration of TCIM into hospital operations are challenges that need to be addressed for sustainability.
