Energetics of a Single Qubit Gate

J. Stevens et al.

Summary: In this study, a quantum gate is implemented using a resonant drive field in a superconducting platform. The research shows that during the gate, the energy change in the drive field can exceed the energy that can be extracted by the qubit due to the measurement backaction.

Efficiently fueling a quantum engine with incompatible measurements

Sreenath K. Manikandan et al.

Summary: In this paper, a measurement engine using a quantum harmonic oscillator as fuel is proposed. The engine extracts work by simultaneously measuring the noncommuting position and momentum quadratures of the oscillator. Two protocols for work extraction based on single-shot and time-continuous quantum measurements are presented, and exact results for the work distribution are provided.

On conservation laws in quantum mechanics

Yakir Aharonov et al.

Summary: The text questions the meaning of conservation laws in quantum mechanics and argues that the standard way of defining them misses essential features of nature, necessitating a reevaluation and extension.

Two-Qubit Engine Fueled by Entanglement and Local Measurements

Lea Bresque et al.

Summary: The study introduces a two-qubit engine powered by entanglement and local measurements, and extends the energy conversion process to an N-qubit chain. It finally identifies the fueling mechanism and energy cost associated with erasing the correlations between the qubits.

Direct evaluation of measurement uncertainties by feedback compensation of decoherence

Holger F. Hofmann

Summary: The study demonstrates that measurement uncertainties can be observed directly by evaluating the feedback compensation of decoherence induced by the measured system on a probe qubit. The empirical validity of measurement theories that combine initial information of the input state with additional information provided by each measurement outcome is confirmed by introducing measurement uncertainties described by Ozawa in Phys. Rev. A 67, 042105 (2003).
