Evaluation of the mechanical performance of concrete containing calcium carbide residue and nano silica using response surface methodology

Musa Adamu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of incorporating calcium carbide residue (CCR) and nano silica (NS) on the properties of concrete. The results showed that using a high proportion of CCR and a moderate amount of NS significantly improved the strength, modulus of elasticity, and water absorption of the concrete. The developed models for predicting concrete properties using response surface methodology were highly efficient and correlated well.

Mechanical Performance of Polymeric ARGF-Based Fly Ash-Concrete Composites: A Study for Eco-Friendly Circular Economy Application

Hassan Tariq et al.

Summary: This study investigated the combined and individual effects of fly ash and alkali resistance glass fiber on the mechanical characteristics of plain cement concrete. The results showed that the addition of fibers enhanced the flexural and tensile strength of the concrete, while high percentages of fly ash replacement had a negative impact on the mechanical properties. The study concluded that the combined addition of these materials can improve the strength and toughness of plain cement concrete, supporting the use of an eco-friendly circular economy.

Development of Self-Compacting Concrete Incorporating Rice Husk Ash with Waste Galvanized Copper Wire Fiber

Md Habibur Rahman Sobuz et al.

Summary: This research aims to investigate the rheological and mechanical properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC) with waste galvanized copper wire fiber and rice husk ash (RHA). The addition of copper wire fiber decreases the fresh properties of SCC, while the inclusion of 2% RHA increases the viscosity of the concrete. The optimum SCC mixture is suggested to contain 2% RHA and 0.75% copper fiber, providing improved mechanical properties.

Influence of graphene oxide on properties of concrete in the presence of silica fumes and M-sand

P. K. Akarsh et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of graphene oxide in high strength concrete containing silica fume. The results show that a concrete mix with 7% SF and 0.15% GO can achieve high compressive strength and flexural strength, indicating the effectiveness of GO-based concretes in pavement quality concrete applications.
