An On-Site Harmonic Noise Cancellation Antenna With a Multinode Loop for Magnetic Resonance Sounding Measurement

Pengfei Wang et al.

Summary: Magnetic resonance sounding (MRS) is a geophysical method to detect aquifers directly in the earth's magnetic field, which offers the benefit to evaluate groundwater qualitatively and quantitatively. A multinode antenna, consisting of four figure-8 antennas connected around nodes, is proposed to improve the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) measurement of groundwater by canceling magnetic fluxes caused by noise. The results show that the new antenna has better noise suppression effect and is independent of the layout angle. The adoption of this antenna can increase the detection efficiency by 4-8 times and improve the SNR by 10 dB.

Steady-State Surface NMR for Mapping of Groundwater

D. Grombacher et al.

Summary: Groundwater, a critical freshwater source for billions, is increasingly stressed by climate change, pollution, and overexploitation. Surface nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), with recent advancements, shows great promise in locating and monitoring groundwater sources efficiently and accurately, even in previously inaccessible areas. The new technique, enabled by breakthroughs in transmitter capabilities and numerical modeling, delivers significant signal enhancements for high-fidelity groundwater measurements.

Mitigating Narrowband Noise Sources Close to the Larmor Frequency in Surface NMR

Denys Grombacher et al.

Summary: This paper investigates how the spectral analysis envelope detection scheme can be used to mitigate the impact of narrowband noise sources on nuclear magnetic resonance signals, by selecting an appropriate window length to set a stopband near the Larmor frequency. Experimental results demonstrate that this method can significantly reduce the interference of narrowband noise sources on the estimated envelope.

Harmonic Noise-Elimination Method Based on the Synchroextracting Transform for Magnetic-Resonance Sounding Data

Chuandong Jiang et al.

Summary: Magnetic-resonance sounding (MRS) is widely used in hydrogeological applications, but faces challenges due to environmental noise. The synchroextracting transform (SET) method proposed in this study effectively eliminates harmonic noise, improving data quality and processing efficiency.
