Progress in applications of shockwave induced by short pulsed laser on surface processing

Zhen Zhang et al.

Summary: The force effect of the shockwave generated by laser can improve the mechanical properties, microstructure, shape, and surface cleanliness of materials. It is widely used in surface strengthening, surface cleaning, and metal forming. Laser shock peening (LSP) and laser shock cleaning (LSC) are two applications of laser shockwave in surface processing. The force effect of laser shockwave allows non-thermal treatment and has been used in aerospace, biomedical, and semiconductor industries.
