Optimal replacement policy for multi-state manufacturing system with economic and resource dependence under epistemic uncertainty

Zhaoxiang Chen et al.

Summary: This paper develops an optimal replacement policy V* for a multi-state manufacturing system by considering epistemic uncertainty, economic dependence, and resource dependence. The fuzzy Markov model and fuzzy stochastic flow manufacturing network (FSFMN) are used to evaluate the fuzzy reliability of machines and manufacturing systems. The results show that this policy is more effective.

Modeling framework to support decision making and control of manufacturing systems considering the relationship between productivity, reliability, quality, and energy consumption

Miguel Saez et al.

Summary: This article introduces a framework that extends the modeling of manufacturing systems to support decision making for control at both machine and system levels. The framework considers the coupling between productivity, quality, reliability, and energy consumption and utilizes data-driven models developed from plant floor data. By validating the framework using real and simulated data, it is shown that the control variables obtained through simulation-based optimization can reduce energy consumption and improve productivity.
