Gradient-based reconstruction of molecular Hamiltonians and density matrices from time-dependent quantum observables

Summary: This study considers a quantum system with unknown parameters that are used to parameterize a time-independent Hamiltonian. The system is prepared in a general quantum state using an evolution operator dependent on unknown parameters. The study shows that closed-form expressions for gradients of the distance between the system's observable and a calculated observable can be obtained for all elements of the system density matrix. These gradients can be used to infer the parameters and relevant density matrix from dynamical observables.
