Non-equilibrium thermoelectric transport across normal metal-quantum dot-superconductor hybrid system within the Coulomb blockade regime

Sachin Verma et al.

Summary: This study investigates the electric and thermoelectric transport properties of a quantum dot coupled to metallic and superconducting reservoirs. It shows that single-particle tunnelling near the superconducting gap edge generates a large thermopower and figure of merit, while Andreev tunnelling suppresses these properties within the gap region. In the non-linear regime, the study discusses the heat current and asymmetric heat dissipation for low voltage biasing, as well as the variation of thermovoltage, thermopower, maximum power output, and efficiency with thermal gradient.

Ultimate Accuracy of Frequency to Power Conversion by Single-Electron Injection

Jukka P. Pekola et al.

Summary: This theoretical analysis of a system for converting frequency to power reveals that the main errors come from the inaccuracy of injecting electrons and subgap leakage. The study shows that systematic errors in detection can be significantly reduced compared to injection errors, and with proper system parameters, injection errors can be very small at low temperatures.

Heat Driven Transport in Serial Double Quantum Dot Devices

Sven Dorsch et al.

Summary: Studies on thermally induced transport in nanostructures explore the conversion of heat into electrical power, demonstrating the versatility of the design to study fluctuations and fundamental nanothermodynamics. By enhancing the temperature of the phonon bath near the double quantum dot, phonon-assisted transport is enabled while affecting conventional thermoelectric transport. The study shows sensitivity of phonon-assisted transport to excited states.

Thermoelectric current in a graphene Cooper pair splitter

Z. B. Tan et al.

Summary: The non-local Seebeck effect has been observed in a graphene-based Cooper pair splitting device, offering a potential tool for producing entangled electrons. This phenomenon arises from the interplay of non-local Cooper pair splitting and elastic co-tunneling in normal metal-superconductor-normal metal structures.

Summary: In this study, the interaction between two closely spaced but electrically isolated quasi-one-dimensional electrical wires was investigated through a drag experiment. It was experimentally demonstrated that current can be generated in an unbiased wire as a result of interactions with a neighboring biased wire. The direction of the drag current depends on the length of the wires and the position of the barriers.

Summary: In this study, thermally driven transport of heat and charge in a superconducting single-electron transistor was investigated using a real-time diagrammatic transport theory. It was found that a temperature bias across the system leads to finite heat and charge currents close to the particle-hole symmetric point.

Summary: The study thoroughly investigates the thermoelectric performance of a topological Josephson nonlocal heat engine, exploring how different triggers affect the nonlocal thermoelectric effects and considering possible experimental nonidealities. It discusses the interplay between Doppler shift and Andreev interferometry for different operating regimes, and highlights high nonlocal Seebeck coefficients that could be detectable even against spurious local effects.

Stochastic thermodynamic cycles of a mesoscopic thermoelectric engine

R. David Mayrhofer et al.

Summary: The study focuses on a steady-state thermoelectric engine with two capacitively coupled quantum dots, utilizing stochastic cycles for work extraction instead of periodic time dependence. By quantifying cycle fluctuations and relating them to entropy production, the main cycle responsible for engine performance is identified and its statistics are analyzed using tools from graph theory. The investigation provides new perspectives on the connection between cyclic and steady-state engines.
