A Novel Hybrid Short-Term Load Forecasting Method of Smart Grid Using MLR and LSTM Neural Network

Jian Li et al.

Summary: The article proposes an improved short-term load forecasting method, decomposing the load into different frequency components and predicting them using multivariable linear regression and long short-term memory neural network algorithms, and finally combining the two methods to obtain the actual load behavior. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through experiments.

Forecasting day-ahead electricity prices: A review of state-of-the-art algorithms, best practices and an open-access benchmark

Jesus Lago et al.

Summary: The field of electricity price forecasting lacks a rigorous approach to evaluating new predictive algorithms, with proposed methods often lacking benchmark comparisons and clear best practices. This paper addresses these issues by comparing statistical and deep learning methods, proposing best practices, and providing datasets and a Python toolbox for future studies.

Pattern-based Forecasting of Monthly Electricity Demand using Support Vector Machine

Pawel Pelka

Summary: Forecasting mid-term electricity demand using Support Vector Machine (SVM) has shown high performance and competitiveness compared to other models like ARIMA, exponential smoothing, multilayer perceptron, neuro-fuzzy systems, and long-short term memory network. The SVM model approximates the relationship between historical and future demand patterns by simplifying the forecasting problem through annual cycle patterns that unify data and filter out trends. This study confirms the effectiveness of SVM in predicting monthly electricity demand in European countries.

Randomized Neural Networks for Forecasting Time Series with Multiple Seasonality

Grzegorz Dudek

Summary: This study contributes to the development of neural forecasting models with novel randomization-based learning methods, which improve fitting abilities and allow for forecasting time series with multiple seasonality. The proposed models show promising performance in terms of forecasting accuracy, training speed, simplicity, and robustness in dealing with nonstationarity and multiple seasonality in time series.
