Summary: The utilization of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) is important for the development of green building materials as it allows for the full utilization of waste concrete. However, there is currently a limited understanding of the failure surface of RAC under different compression conditions. This study proposes equations for the compressive meridian and tensile meridian of RAC in octahedral stress space, taking into account the influence of high temperatures. Experimental validation of these equations for both room temperature and high temperatures was conducted.

Summary: The present study investigates the effects of different calcination temperatures on the appearance, mineral composition, and active SiO2 content in attapulgite. It also examines the influence of calcined attapulgite on the chemically bonded water content, hydration degree of cement paste, and mechanical properties of cement mortar. The results suggest that a calcination temperature of 500 degrees C yields the best enhancement in cement-based materials' hydration activity. This study highlights the potential of using calcined attapulgite clay to reduce energy consumption in the cement industry and promote the sustainable development of attapulgite clay.

Summary: Waste glass can be effectively utilized in construction by chemical activation and mechanical grinding. The optimal dosage of chemical activators and the combined activation method were determined. A multi-objective optimization model based on the firefly algorithm and machine learning was used to optimize the strength, alkali-silica reaction expansion, and cost of waste glass mixtures. The Pareto fronts for mortars containing different sizes of waste glass powder were successfully obtained, contributing to the practical application of waste glass in mortar production.

Summary: Microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation (MICP) is a new, environmentally friendly treatment method for soil foundations, which can improve the resistance of calcareous sand foundations to liquefaction. This study investigated the effects of variable activated carbon contents on the liquefaction resistance of MICP-treated calcareous sand. The results showed that increasing activated carbon content improved the bacterial retention ratio, cyclic strength, and secant modulus of the samples, and the distribution of excessive activated carbon affected the connection between sand particles.

Summary: The study found that using high-performance ferrocement laminate and bond steel plate to reinforce pre-damaged reinforced concrete columns can effectively restore and improve their bearing capacity, ductility, energy dissipation, and stiffness. This strengthening method also significantly improves the shear capacity of the columns and changes the failure modes. Under different loading conditions, vertical eccentricity has minimal impact on seismic behavior, while horizontal eccentricity increases the length of the failure region and reduces seismic performance.

Summary: The research indicates that the impact of rubber particles on the unstable fracture toughness is greater than that on the initial cracking toughness of RAC after exposure to high temperatures. However, the enhanced effect of rubber on the fracture resistance decreases after subjecting it to high-temperature treatment due to the softening and eventual decomposition of rubber. Therefore, a rubber content of more than 4% is not recommended to avoid drawbacks introduced by rubber, considering the mechanical and fracture performance of RRAC.

Summary: This paper presents novel results on the bond-slip behavior of concrete filled double skin steel tubular (CFDST) columns through push-out tests, focusing on the impact of welded reinforcing bars and shear studs. The findings show that welding reinforcing bars or internal rings onto the inner steel tube significantly enhances bond strength, compressive strength, and eliminates local buckling of the inner tube in CFDST columns. Additionally, the use of embedded shear studs improves bond strength with less shear resistance compared to other interface types.
