Multiple exciton generation in tin-lead halide perovskite nanocrystals for photocurrent quantum efficiency enhancement

Yifan Chen et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates enhanced multiple exciton generation in formamidinium tin-lead iodide perovskite nanocrystals, achieving high photoconversion efficiency and reducing photon-energy threshold. By observing internal photocurrent quantum efficiency exceeding 100% and a lower threshold in such materials, the mechanism of MEG enhancement is found to be mediated by slower cooling and reduced trapping of hot carriers above the MEG threshold.

Quasi-Type II Core-Shell Perovskite Nanocrystals for Improved Structural Stability and Optical Gain

Xuanyu Zhang et al.

Summary: Core-shell lead halide perovskite nanocrystals with a quasi-type II band alignment and Cs+ ions in the shell to limit ion migration and stabilize structural and optical properties. After exposure to pulsed nanosecond laser, amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) is observed, attributed to effective passivation of defects at the interface induced by laser irradiation. These core-shell PeNCs demonstrate high structural and optical stability, with an ASE threshold of 447 nJ/cm(2) under pulsed nanosecond optical pumping.

Lack of Photon Antibunching Supports Supertrap Model of Photoluminescence Blinking in Perovskite Sub-Micrometer Crystals

Ivan Yu. Eremchev et al.

Summary: The study found that while the MAPbI(3) perovskite crystals exhibit strong blinking, the typical antibunching effect is not observed in these crystals, contrary to common perception. This indicates that the absence of directional energy funneling and charge accumulation in local regions of the crystals may not suppress the simultaneous emission of two photons through Auger recombination.

Summary: Metal halide perovskites are gaining attention in optoelectronic applications due to their properties such as large absorption coefficient, low defect density, and high charge carrier mobility. While progress has been made in perovskite-based lasers, the development is still in its early stages and electrically pumped lasers have not been realized yet. Understanding the fundamental photophysical characteristics of perovskite gain materials is crucial to accelerating their development in laser applications.
