Gravity Balancing Flexure Spring Mechanisms for Shoulder Support in Assistive Orthoses

Martin Tschiersky et al.

Summary: Passive shoulder supports have great potential for various applications. This study explores the use of mechanisms with flexible elements for these supports, and discovers many potential designs. Two promising designs were developed and tested, showing positive results. The study suggests that a design with a tapered flexure connector is the most promising solution.

Conceptual design and virtual prototyping of a wearable upper limb exoskeleton for assisted operations

Pietro Bilancia et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a novel upper limb robotic exoskeleton designed for industrial operations and rehabilitation purposes, with the main function of compensating for gravity loads on the shoulder. The focus of the paper is on the mechanical design and virtual prototyping of the exoskeleton.
