Questionnaires or Serum Immunoglobulin G Testing in the Diagnosis of Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis among Patients with Interstitial Lung Disease

Alex R. Jenkins et al.

Summary: Questionnaires are better at detecting potentially relevant exposures for hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) compared to serum IgG testing, with longer and detailed questionnaires more likely to lead to identification of potential exposures. Serum IgG testing shows high sensitivity and specificity in distinguishing HP from healthy exposed and unexposed control subjects, but is less effective in distinguishing HP from interstitial lung diseases (ILDs).
