Bound on resistivity in flat-band materials due to the quantum metric

Johannes Mitscherling et al.

Summary: The quantum metric, a central quantity in band theory, has been found to be related to the interband contribution to electrical conductivity, particularly in semimetals and systems with highly quenched bandwidth. In topological flat-band materials, there exists an upper bound for resistivity due to the common geometrical origin of quantum metric and Berry curvature. These effects can be further explored in highly tunable rhombohedral trilayer graphene flakes.

Fragile Topology and Flat-Band Superconductivity in the Strong-Coupling Regime

Valerio Peri et al.

Summary: This study investigates the superconductivity behavior in flat bands with topological properties similar to MATBG. Numerical simulations demonstrate a superconducting phase transition with a critical temperature linearly scaling with the interaction strength, validating the topological bound beyond mean-field approximation and emphasizing the significance of fragile topology for flat-band superconductivity.

Impurity dephasing in a Bose-Hubbard model

Fabio Caleffi et al.

Summary: In this study, the dynamics of a two-level impurity in a two-dimensional Bose-Hubbard model were investigated at zero temperature from the perspective of an open quantum system. Decoherence results across the whole phase diagram were presented, with a focus on the critical region near the transition between superfluid and Mott insulator. The deviation from a Markovian behavior and sensitivity to commensurate or incommensurate densities during the transition were highlighted, along with the role of the spectrum of the BH environment and its non-Gaussian statistics.

Topological Higgs amplitude modes in strongly interacting superfluids

Junsen Wang et al.

Summary: Through studying the two-dimensional Su-Schrieffer-Heeger-Bose-Hubbard model, it was shown that topological Higgs amplitude modes exist in the strongly interacting superfluid phase. These modes exhibit different characteristics at different filling limits, but their topological properties remain unchanged.

Flat-band-induced non-Fermi-liquid behavior of multicomponent fermions

Pramod Kumar et al.

Summary: In this study, multicomponent fermions in a flat band were investigated using dynamical mean-field theory in a Lieb lattice. Experimental signatures of non-Fermiliquid behavior were predicted and these signatures are observable in current ultracold gas experiments, even in the presence of a trapping potential. The mean-field scaling relation between results for different values of N was derived and its breakdown due to beyond mean-field effects was studied.
