Pixel-based vs. object-based anthropogenic impervious surface detection: driver for urban-rural thermal disparity in Faridabad, Haryana, India

Sunil Kumar et al.

Summary: The research focuses on the expansion of anthropogenic impervious surface area and its impact on temperature in Faridabad's core urban, semi urban, and rural regions from 2012-2017. Results indicate that object-based image classification is more accurate for detecting impervious surface area compared to pixel-based classification, and the non-linearity of the relationship between land surface temperature and impervious surface area increases from urban to rural areas.

The appraisal of groundwater storage dwindling effect, by applying high resolution downscaling GRACE data in and around Mehsana district, Gujarat, India

Anuradha Karunakalage et al.

Summary: This study estimates groundwater limitation in the Mehsana district of Gujarat from 2003 to 2019 using downscaling GRACE and JPL data. The analysis reveals a strong correlation between the groundwater declining rates and mass loss observed in both GRACE and JPL solutions, with downscaling SH showing more sensitive estimation of GWS change compared to JPL mascon derivations.

Delineation of tectonically active zones in the Island Belt Uplift region, Kachchh Basin, western India: A geomorphic and geodetic approach

Chirag Jani et al.

Summary: The study identified tectonically active zones along the Island Belt Uplift (IBU) by analyzing the Normalized Steepness Index (Ksn) and morphotectonic features, showing that Pachham Uplift (PU) and Bela Uplift (BU) are the most active, Khadir Uplift (KU) exhibits moderate activity, and Chorar Uplift (CU) is least active. The results were validated by comparing with Gradient Length Anomaly (GLA) and Differential Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR) data, indicating ongoing seismic activities in the identified active zones. Active deformation rates were calculated using Global Positioning System (GPS) data, and the results were consistent with the Ksn analysis.

Comprehensive study on evaluation of Kaliasaur Landslide attributes in Garhwal Himalaya by the execution of geospatial, geotechnical and geophysical methods

Jotheeshwar Velayudham et al.

Summary: The Kaliasaur Landslide in Garhwal Himalaya was mainly composed of rocks and debris, triggered by monsoonal precipitation. Evaluation using TRMM data and RAMMS modeling revealed the characteristics of rock fall and debris flow in the landslide event.
