Wound Infections in Adult Patients after Berlin Heart® EXCOR Biventricular Assist Device Implantation

Summary: This study provides a detailed description of infectious complications in patients with the Berlin Heart (R) EXCOR ventricular assist device. The results show that VAD-specific wound infections are manageable and do not increase mortality or preclude heart transplantation. However, specific risk factors for VAD-specific wound infections could not be identified.
