In this study, a series of novel compounds were successfully synthesized and characterized. The synthesized compounds exhibited antibacterial activity, suggesting their potential application as antibacterial agents.
Some new 4-methyl-7-(4-acetyl-5-aryl-4,5-dihydro-1,3,4-oxadiazole-7-yl-oxymethyl)-2H-chromen-2-ones (4, 5) and 4-methyl-7-(5-aryl-1,3,4-oxadiazole-7-yl- oxymethyl)-2H-chromen-2-ones (6-8) were synthesized by reacting 4-methylcoumarin-7-yl-oxymethyl arylaldehyde acetohydrazones (1-3) with appropriate reagents and conditions. Infrared, proton nuclear magnetic resonance, and mass spectrometric techniques were used to characterize and elucidate the structure of synthesized compounds. The final products were tested for antibacterial activity on both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. This research demonstrates the design and development of novel antibacterial agents.
