Chemo-profiling of bioactive metabolites from Chaetomium globosum for biocontrol of Sclerotinia rot and plant growth promotion

Rakesh Kumar et al.

Summary: The study aimed to characterize the volatile and nonvolatile compounds of C. globosum 5157, revealing its potential as a biocontrol agent against various fungal pathogens. The antifungal potential of the strain was demonstrated by inhibiting the growth of Sclerotium rolfsii and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, while also promoting the growth of Brassica seedlings.

Fungi and their metabolites in grain from individual households in Croatia

Domagoj Kifer et al.

Summary: A total of 117 fungal metabolites were detected in grains collected from two villages in Croatia, with a higher number found in grains from Gunja-G. Most regulated mycotoxins were below maximum limits, but Fusarium metabolites contaminated over 50% of grains in both locations. Ergot alkaloids were found at significantly higher concentrations in Gunja-G compared to Gornji Stupnik-GS.
