Multiperspective Bistatic Ultrasound Imaging and Elastography of the Ex Vivo Abdominal Aorta

Vera H. J. van Hal et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of ultrafast multiperspective bistatic imaging to improve aortic ultrasound. The results show that bistatic imaging has advantages in image quality and strain estimation compared to conventional imaging methods. Experimental results demonstrate improved image contrast-to-noise ratio and elastographic signal-to-noise ratio using bistatic imaging.

Real-Time 3-D Spectral Doppler Analysis With a Sparse Spiral Array

Alessandro Ramalli et al.

Summary: This article presents a novel real-time 3-D pulsed-wave Doppler system based on a 256-element 2-D spiral array, using coded transmission and matched filtering to improve system SNR. The system's performance is assessed quantitatively on experimental data and a human phantom model, with an SNR increase of 11.4 dB achieved by transmitting linear chirps.

Architecture for an Ultrasound Advanced Open Platform With an Arbitrary Number of Independent Channels

Daniele Mazierli et al.

Summary: Ultrasound open platforms are programmable tools for developing novel methods, with the ability to control up to 256 probe elements independently. A system architecture is proposed in this paper, utilizing hardware and software synchronization to implement advanced platforms with arbitrary numbers of channels. The solution, requiring only a single personal computer, maintains real-time features and portability, allowing for the production of high-quality real-time B-mode images and new high frame rate modalities.
