Interplay between Dysbiosis of Gut Microbiome, Lipid Metabolism, and Tumorigenesis: Can Gut Dysbiosis Stand as a Prognostic Marker in Cancer?

Indranil Chattopadhyay et al.

Summary: The gut bacterial community plays a crucial role in the metabolism of bile acids and short-chain fatty acids, and their metabolites have significant effects on host pathophysiology. Understanding the interaction between gut microbiota and bile acid and SCFA metabolism is crucial for studying gastrointestinal cancer development.

Hydrogen Sulfide Produced by Gut Bacteria May Induce Parkinson's Disease

Kari Erik Murros

Summary: Bacterial species that produce hydrogen sulfide (H2S) have been found to be increased in the microbiome of the colon in Parkinson's disease. High levels of H2S can cause various effects in cells, leading to the formation of alpha-synuclein protein aggregates. Bacterially produced H2S can also interfere with urate metabolism and affect blood cells. Changes in the composition of gut bacteria, especially in the colon and duodenum, may play a role in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease.

SEW2871 attenuates ANIT-induced hepatotoxicity by protecting liver barrier function via sphingosine 1-phosphate receptor-1-mediated AMPK signaling pathway

Tingting Yang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that the selective agonist SEW2871 of S1PR1 could alleviate TJs damage in ANIT-induced cholestatic liver injury. The protective effect was mediated through the AMPK signaling pathway, suggesting S1PR1 as a potential therapeutic target for intrahepatic cholestatic liver injury.

Protective effects of n-Butanol extract and iridoid glycosides of Veronica ciliata Fisch. Against ANIT-induced cholestatic liver injury in mice

Wan Hua et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the protective effect of Veronica ciliata on liver injury and cholestasis in mice, as well as its mechanism. The results showed that n-Butanol extract (BE) and iridoid glycosides (IG) from Veronica ciliata significantly decreased cholestatic liver injury markers in ANIT-treated mice and relieved liver tissue pathological damages.

Identification of differentially expressed genes involved in amino acid and lipid accumulation of winter turnip rape (Brassica rapa L.) in response to cold stress

Yan Fang et al.

Summary: Winter turnip rape is an important overwintering oil crop in northwestern China, known for its cold-tolerant roots. Comparative transcriptomics analysis of two varieties revealed differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to fatty acid synthesis and amino acid metabolism under normal and cold stress conditions. Real-time quantitative RT-PCR validated the RNA-seq data, providing insight into the complex regulatory mechanisms in plants during cold treatment.

Analytical and Omics-Based Advances in the Study of Drug-Induced Liver Injury

Thomas Kralj et al.

Summary: Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a significant clinical issue, with an annual impact on 1-1.5 million patients, and is a major challenge during drug development. Greater understanding of the biological mechanisms behind DILI can help minimize its future prevalence. Qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques, as well as omics-based analytical techniques, are vital for characterizing and investigating DILI.
