5G cascaded channel estimation using convolutional neural networks

Fabio D. L. S. Coutinho et al.

Summary: In this paper, a CNN-based framework is proposed to tackle the problem of cascaded channels estimation. The results show that the CNN-based framework performs well in terms of bit error rate and mean squared error, especially for increasing number of links and modulation order.

Knowledge-Driven Machine Learning and Applications in Wireless Communications

Daofeng Li et al.

Summary: This paper proposes the knowledge-driven machine learning (KDML) model to demonstrate the importance of knowledge in machine learning tasks. Compared with conventional machine learning, KDML incorporates domain-specific knowledge to simplify networks, reduce training overhead, and improve interpretability. The effectiveness of KDML-based channel estimators is validated through experiments in the field of wireless communication.

Deep Learning-Based Phase Noise Compensation in Multicarrier Systems

Amirhossein Mohammadian et al.

Summary: This letter introduces a deep learning algorithm for compensating the impacts of phase noise in multicarrier systems, which outperforms conventional estimators in terms of channel estimation mean-squared error reduction and bit-error rate improvement. The algorithm replaces iterative processes of traditional estimators, reducing complexity and achieving better performance.

Performance Analysis on Machine Learning-Based Channel Estimation

Kai Mei et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the mean square error (MSE) performance of machine learning-based channel estimation and employs hypothesis testing to analyze its performance upper bound. By establishing a statistical model and deriving the relationship between training data size and performance, the analysis results under low-dimensional input with linear learning modules are verified. Finally, design considerations for limited training data are discussed.

Cascaded Channel Estimation for RIS Assisted mmWave MIMO Transmissions

Yushan Liu et al.

Summary: This study proposes a cascaded channel estimation framework for RIS-assisted mmWave communications, taking into account the wideband effect and using the Newtonized orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm for channel parameter detection. The Cramer-Rao lower bound is introduced to evaluate the channel estimation performance. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed channel estimation scheme.
