Novel constraints on neutrino physics beyond the standard model from the CONUS experiment

H. Bonet et al.

Summary: The measurements from the coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CE nu NS) experiments have opened up possibilities to study neutrino physics beyond the standard model. This paper presents constraints on non-standard interactions (NSIs) and mediators derived from CONUS germanium data. The study found that the CONUS experiment has set the world's best limits on tensor NSIs and has the potential to probe coupling constants for scalar and vector mediators.

Bounds on new physics with data of the Dresden-II reactor experiment and COHERENT

Pilar Coloma et al.

Summary: The Dresden-II experiment observed coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering with reactor antineutrinos, expanding research on various beyond the Standard Model scenarios. The study explores constraints on nonstandard interactions, magnetic moments, and models with light scalar or vector mediators, highlighting synergies between spallation neutron source and reactor experiments. Additionally, possible signals from scenarios involving elastic scattering off electrons are investigated, revealing stricter constraints in certain parameter spaces compared to coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering.

Measurement of Coherent Elastic Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering from Reactor Antineutrinos

J. Colaresi et al.

Summary: This study describes the 96.4-day exposure of a 3 kg ultralow noise germanium detector to the high flux of antineutrinos from a nuclear reactor. The data shows a very strong preference for the presence of a coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering component compared to a background-only model. However, no such effect is observed during reactor outages. The best-fit CE.NS signal agrees well with expectations based on a recent characterization of germanium response to sub-keV nuclear recoils, and deviations of order 60% from the standard model CE.NS prediction can be excluded using the data available.

Measurement of the Coherent Elastic Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering Cross Section on CsI by COHERENT

D. Akimov et al.

Summary: The cross section of coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS) was measured using a CsI[Na] scintillating crystal in a high flux of neutrinos. The COHERENT Collaboration achieved the most precise measurement of CEvNS yet, which is consistent with the standard model. The results placed leading constraints on neutrino nonstandard interactions and tested lepton flavor universality and weak mixing angle.

Consequences of the Dresden-II reactor data for the weak mixing angle and new physics

D. Aristizabal Sierra et al.

Summary: The Dresden-II reactor experiment has observed coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering, which is important for studying the weak mixing angle and new physics at low momentum transfer. The results show a strong dependence on the quenching factor choice and provide a determination of sin(2)theta(W) at a scale of 10 MeV. Tight upper limits are placed on the light mediator scenarios and the sterile neutrino dipole portal.

First results of the νGeN experiment on coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering

I Alekseev et al.

Summary: The nu GeN experiment aims to study the properties of neutrinos using antineutrinos from the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant reactor. The experimental setup is located 11 meters away from the reactor core and uses a high purity germanium detector to detect the scattering of antineutrinos. Both passive and active shieldings are used to minimize background interference. The results show no significant difference between the spectra of data taken with the reactor on and off, indicating no positive signals for coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering. The upper limit for the quenching parameter k in germanium is set to be less than 0.26 (90% confidence level) under the assumptions of the Standard Model.

Implications of the first evidence for coherent elastic scattering of reactor neutrinos

Jiajun Liao et al.

Summary: Recent evidence for coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CE nu NS) in the NCC-1701 germanium detector using antineutrinos from the Dresden-II nuclear reactor is in good agreement with standard model expectations. However, a 2 sigma improvement in the fit to the data can be achieved if the quenching factor is described by a modified Lindhard model. Constraints on the parameter space of a light vector or scalar mediator that couples to neutrinos and quarks, as well as on a neutrino magnetic moment, have also been placed. It is demonstrated that these constraints are quite sensitive to the quenching factor at low recoil energies by comparing constraints for the standard Lindhard model with those by marginalizing over the two parameters of the modified Lindhard model.

New constraints on the dark side of non-standard interactions from reactor neutrino scattering data

Peter B. Denton et al.

Summary: This article mainly introduces the degeneracies in neutrino oscillation physics, known as LMA-Dark, which make it impossible to determine the atmospheric mass ordering using oscillation experiments alone. By combining different measurements, the degeneracies can be lifted to some extent. New data from the Dresden-II experiment are used to completely remove the degeneracies in the ν(e) sector at the MeV scale. However, the LMA-Dark degeneracy can still be restored in the ν(μ) and ν(τ) sectors.

First Measurement of Coherent Elastic Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering on Argon

D. Akimov et al.

Summary: We present the first measurement of coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering (CEvNS) on argon using a liquid argon detector at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Spallation Neutron Source. Two independent analyses support CEvNS over the background-only null hypothesis with more than 3 sigma significance. The measured cross section, averaged over the incident neutrino flux, is (2.2 +/- 0.7) x 10(-39) cm(2)-consistent with the standard model prediction, confirming the existence of the CEvNS process and providing improved constraints on nonstandard neutrino interactions.

CP-violating and charged current neutrino nonstandard interactions in CEνNS

Amir N. Khan et al.

Summary: Neutrino nonstandard interactions (NSI) can be constrained through coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering, with a focus on charged current NSI and CP-violating phases associated with neutral current NSI. Limits on NSI parameters depend dramatically on the values of CP-phases, and COHERENT provides complementary constraints on explaining the discrepancy in the best-fit standard CP-phase obtained by T2K and NO nu A. The presence of additional NSI parameters may weaken the ruling out of the large mixing angle (LMA)-Dark-solution.
